For over 8 years\, Dr. Suzanne Afflalo\, a highly respected physician and community advocate\, has led these efforts with compassion\, purpose\, and an unwavering commitment to underserved populations. \nHeld on the first Wednesday of every month at the Jackie Robinson YMCA\, each fair provides an inviting and supportive space where individuals and families can access free health screenings\, connect with local nonprofit and medical partners\, and receive education and resources that support long-term well-being. \nWith services ranging from blood pressure checks and HIV screenings to mammogram sign-ups\, vaccines\, and even pet health resources\, our fairs meet people where they are — regardless of insurance\, income\, or background.

DESCRIPTION:This year’s theme is Accountability and Disclosure: Fighting the Toxic Legacy of Commercial Tobacco\nThe Policy Research Center’s Annual Symposium on Tobacco and the Environment raises awareness for World No Tobacco Day and provides an opportunity for researchers and community groups to share their work in tobacco policy.  \nThis free event will feature guest speakers\, panelist discussions and poster presentations. Environmentalists\, students\, researchers\, and tobacco control advocates from around California can attend in-person and virtually. \nThe 2026 Symposium will take place on May 29th from 8:30 am – 2:30 pm PT at the Southeastern Live Well Center: 5101 Market Street\, San Diego\, CA 92114. \nOnline registration can be completed in English or Spanish. Simultaneous interpretation in Spanish will be available on request. Habrá interpretación simultánea en español disponible.
