The mission of the African Communities Public Health Coalition (ACPHC) is to improve personal and community health and wellness within the African community by: increasing the availability of culturally-relevant physical and mental health services; providing education to reduce the stigma of physical and mental illness among African people; and facilitating social justice through advocacy.

American Nonsmokers’ Rights Foundation

American Nonsmokers’ Rights Foundation’s mission is to promote smokefree air through prevention education programs, information dissemination, technical assistance, training, and lobbying. The foundation has decades of experience, and specializes in how to prepare for tobacco industry interference, build support locally, and pass effective smokefree laws.

Anti-Vaping Champions at UCLA

Anti-Vaping Champions at UCLA is a group of medical and behavioral health care providers, public health professionals, educators and students, and community advocates taking a stance on the vaping epidemic through 3 initiatives:

1. Making a statewide impact in the creation and adoption of vaping-related policies

2. Testing improved processes in the clinical treatment of vaping and nicotine addiction

Breathe California Sacramento Region

Breathe California Sacramento Region is a non-profit organization located in the heart of Sacramento, CA. Their mission is to create clean air and healthy lungs for all of the Sacramento Region. They focus on wildfire-related air quality monitoring and responses, clean transportation availability, access and equity, tobacco control through youth engagement and local policy development, air quality improvement through food waste recycling, and more! Breathe strives to create a tobacco-free future and healthy air quality for generations to come.

Guided by its mission of “changing lives by improving health and wellness,” the California Health Collaborative implements an array of health promotion and disease prevention, youth development programs, as well as a variety of capacity-building initiatives throughout the state.

Community Action Service Advocacy

Our mission is to mobilize communities to create safe and healthy neighborhoods through research, education, advocacy, and service. Our prevention strategies aim to change community conditions, standards, institutions, systems, and policies. Safe and healthy neighborhoods are places where decision-makers favor public health over the influence of big-tobacco, the marijuana industry and alcohol promotions; a place where youth are valued, and families thrive.

Clean Air for All: The Smoke-Free Public Housing Project

Clean Air for All: The Smoke-Free Public Housing Project provides training and technical assistance to public housing agencies, resident services staff, and public housing residents impacted by HUD’s smoke-free public housing rule. This project enhances stakeholders’ capacity to transition to and maintain successful smoke-free public housing environments for all.

Compadres for Tobacco-Free Los Angeles County Project

The Compadres for Tobacco-Free Los Angeles County is a Los Angeles County Office of Education project funded by the California Tobacco Control Program with a goal to eliminate tobacco-related disparities and increase health equity among the Hispanic/Latinx priority population in Los Angeles County through a regional approach. The mission is to empower the Latinx community towards improving its health by offering resources and sharing information to create thriving smoke-free and tobacco-free schools, clinics, and neighborhoods.

First 5 Yuba County

The vision of First 5 Yuba County is that children are healthy and thriving in safe and nurturing environments and ready to succeed in their educational experiences. First 5 Yuba County improves health outcomes for children and their families in rural California by helping reduce second- and thirdhand smoke exposure. First 5 Yuba provides educational sessions to families and various cross-sector agencies on the negative health effects of second- and thirdhand smoke and provides linkages to cessation resources and community supports for other social determinants of health. First 5 Yuba County also works one on one with healthcare systems and family-serving agencies to implement an enhanced system of care for tobacco users or patients who are exposed to second- and thirdhand smoke, including comprehensive tobacco screening, education, and cessation protocols.

Halpern-Felsher REACH Lab

The Halpern-Felsher REACH (Research and Education to Empower Adolescents and Young Adults to Choose Health) Lab’s mission is to empower and promote adolescent and young adult health through collaborative research, education, and policy. The REACH Lab is home to the Tobacco Prevention Toolkit, an evidence-based curriculum and resource used to prevent youth from using tobacco and nicotine.

Kansas Department of Health and Environment, Tobacco Use Prevention Program

The Kansas Tobacco Use Prevention Program provides resources and assistance to state and local partners for development, enhancement and evaluation of state and local initiatives to prevent death and disease from tobacco use and secondhand smoke exposure.

The program focuses on four priority areas: 1) Preventing the initiation of tobacco use among young people, 2) Promoting quitting among tobacco users of all ages, 3) Eliminating nonsmokers’ exposure to secondhand smoke, and 4) Identifying and eliminating disparities related to tobacco use and its effects among different population groups

Leadership in Equity Action & Development

The LEAD project believes passionately in advocating for health equity and environmental justice for low-income people, and in communities of color. They do so by: pushing back against targeted tobacco product pricing, growing community advocates from local youth, and developing non-traditional partnerships with city planners. They know that innovative approaches to achieving health equity, like addressing tobacco use in the city planning process and collaborating with Black Students Unions, will help us to uplift our North State communities. LEAD is a project of the California Health Collaborative.

Live Smoke Free

Live Smoke Free is a non-profit program of the Association for Nonsmokers-Minnesota (ANSR) that promotes smoke-free policies in apartment buildings, condominiums, and other forms of housing. We educate building owners, managers, local policy makers, residents, and housing industry professionals about the benefits of smoke-free multi-housing.

Nicotine and Cannabis Policy Center

The mission of Nicotine and Cannabis Policy Center (NCPC) is to gather, understand and promote the thoughts and feelings of rural California residents on current tobacco and cannabis policy. This will be done via large scale surveys across 11 counties of the San Joaquin Valley and adjoining mountains. The results will then be used to develop achievable policy recommendations that work towards reducing tobacco-related diseases and deaths in this overlooked and underserved region of California.

OUT Against Big Tobacco

OUT Against Big Tobacco (OABT) is Equality California’s campaign to reduce and remove the tobacco-related health disparities caused by Big Tobacco’s predatory marketing practices directed towards marginalized communities creating a culture around the use of a product they know is killing us. We advocate for evidence-based policies to reduce tobacco-related health disparities — especially those within our most vulnerable communities.

Saving Our Legacy African Americans for Smoke Free Safe Spaces (SOL Project)

SOL Project advocates for healthy, smoke-free communities for African Americans and other disproportionately affected populations who suffer from social conditions and tobacco use. With the support of residents and organizations, community health is prioritized by advancing smoke-free outdoor areas, smoke-free multi-unit housing, restrictions on the sale of flavored tobacco and vapes and ending the sale and use of commercial tobacco (Endgame).

Smokefree Air For Everyone

S.A.F.E. was founded in 1992 by people who had been injured by secondhand smoke in the workplace and who had also sought legal remedies to the situation. They advocated successfully for Los Angeles International Airport to become non smoking using Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. They are interested in protecting people’s right to take their next breath and not lose it to an addiction to a toxic and carcinogenic product that has no known positive use.

Smoke Free Homes

Smoke Free Homes is a program from the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services. The program provides free resources, signage, and technical assistance for implementing and enforcing smoke free policies at rental properties throughout the state of Iowa. There are currently over 1,350 rental properties on our Registry within our website, and we want to continue to increase smoke free housing opportunities for all Iowans.

Tobacco Free CA

Tobacco Free California’s mission is to improve the health of all Californians by reducing illness and premature death from the use of tobacco products. By working with local partners throughout the state, they strive to create tobacco-free environments, counter the aggressive marketing tactics of the tobacco industry, prevent youth from getting addicted to the tobacco industry’s deadly products, and help people quit as part of a larger strategy to change social norms about tobacco use and save lives.

Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program

The Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program of California (TRDRP) supports investigators at eligible California institutions whose research contributes directly to the elimination of smoking and the use of tobacco products and mitigates the human and economic costs of tobacco product use in California. Under the 2019 call for applications, TRDRP awarded over $57 million dollars to 28 institutions across California.

University of California San Francisco Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education

The Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education serves as a focal point for a broad range of research, education, and public service activities for over 60 faculty in 11 departments and all four schools at UCSF. It is part of the UCSF Cardiovascular Research Institute and its membership is congruent with the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Tobacco Control Program. The Center is also a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre on Tobacco Control.

Vista Community Clinic Tobacco Control Program

The mission of the Vista Community Clinic is to advance community health and hope by providing access to premier health services and education for those who need it most. The VCC Tobacco Control Program works with North San Diego County community members and partners to promote smoke- and tobacco-free living through policy and initiatives aimed at reducing secondhand smoke exposure in homes and outdoor public areas, reducing youth access to tobacco and vape products, reducing tobacco product waste in the environment and connecting individuals to free quit smoking and vaping services.

The Washoe County Health District serves to protect and enhance the well-being and quality of life for all in Washoe County.

Youth Policy Leaders at Bay Area Community Resources

Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) is a nonprofit organization supporting individual and community development throughout the Bay Area. As part of the BACR network, Youth Policy Leaders (YPL) is a peer-led initiative of youth organizers and researchers working towards social justice, and health equity in San Francisco. YPL is currently working toward a smoke-free multi-unit housing ordinance for San Francisco because we believe all San Franciscans deserve to be healthy and safe in their homes. Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) advocates for innovative legal and policy measures to end the global tobacco epidemic. Since 1967, ASH has worked closely with allies to ensure that the public health community addresses the tobacco epidemic in a unified and coherent manner.

African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council

The African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council educates the public about the dangers of tobacco use. To more effectively reach and save Black lives, they also partner with public-serving agencies and community stakeholders to inform and direct national tobacco policies, practices and priorities.

American Academy of Pediatrics Julius B. Richmond Center of Excellence

The American Academy of Pediatrics Julius B. Richmond Center of Excellence is committed to protecting​​​ children from tobacco and secondhand smoke. Clinicians, researchers, advocates, and families all play a critical role. The Richmond Center offers tools and resources to help clinicians and communities, as well as supports research and policy development to create a healthy environment for children, adolescents, and families.

The America Cancer Society Cancer Action Network is an organization that empowers volunteers to influence change and impact the future of cancer. California Smoker’s Helpline & Center for Tobacco Cessation

The California Smoker’s Helpline is a resource current smokers can turn to for quitting support. The California Smokers’ Helpline is operated by the Moores UCSD Cancer Center under the direction of Shu-Hong Zhu, PhD, Professor of Family and Preventive Medicine. The California Smoker’s Helpline also provides training and technical assitance through the Center for Tobacco Cessation.

California’s Clean Air Project

California’s Clean Air Project (CCAP) offers technical assistance to tribal casinos in California to voluntarily develop and adopt smoke-free workplace policies. CCAP also works with leaders, policymakers, and health departments at the county and state levels. CCAP’s goal is to promote smoke-free work places for casino workers and smoke-free gaming for the public.

Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids

Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids is a leading advocacy organization working to reduce tobacco use and its deadly consequences in the United States and around the world. Through strategic communications and policy advocacy campaigns, they promote the adoption of proven solutions that are most effective at reducing tobacco use and save the most lives.

Center for Disease Control and Prevention Office of Smoking and Tobacco Use

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is at the forefront of the nation’s efforts to reduce deaths and prevent chronic diseases that result from tobacco use. The agency and its partners promote tobacco control interventions, including actions to prevent youth from starting to use tobacco, smoke-free environments, programs to help tobacco users quit, and steps to eliminate tobacco-related health disparities in different population groups.

Cigarette Butt Pollution Project

Cigarette Butt Polution Project is a ground-breaking partnership between public health and environmental advocacy groups. They advocate for effective butt-free policies by encouraging community dialogue, conduct research into the toxicity of tobacco waste and the economics of cleaning up cigarette waste, and provide expert assistance to governments, communities, organizations and individuals seeking to reduce the environmental burden of cigarette butt waste.

Comite Civico del Valle, Inc. National African American Tobacco Prevention Network

NAATPN.Inc. is a 20-year-old organization that exists to facilitate the implementation and promotion of comprehensive policies, community-led programs and culturally competent public health campaigns that benefit African Americans. The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is to secure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights in order to eliminate race-based discrimination and ensure the health and well-being of all persons.

Public Health Law Center

The Public Health Law Center at Mitchell Hamline School of Law collaborates with others to reduce and eliminate commercial tobacco, promote healthy food, support physical activity, and address other causes of chronic disease. Smokefree.gov was created by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to help you or someone you care about quit smoking. Smokefree.gov is a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ efforts to reduce smoking rates in the United States, particularly among certain populations.

Smoke-Free San Diego

Smoke-Free San Diego is a project of the San Diego Tobacco Free Communities Coalition, a group of agencies and individuals who fight for smoke-free air and mobilize the community to help bring about policy change. Over the past twenty years, much progress has been made to protect San Diego residents and visitors, and their region’s environmental treasures, from the dangers associated with secondhand smoke, tobacco litter and protect children from illegal tobacco sales.

Stopping Tobacco Organizations and Products

Stopping Tobacco Organizations and Products (STOP) is dedicated to rigorously exposing the tobacco industry’s efforts to derail tobacco control and hook a new generation of users. STOP works around the world, with a special focus on low-and middle-income countries where the industry is aggressively targeting communities and where the biggest populations are at risk for tobacco-related disease burden.

The Center for Tobacco Policy and Organizing

The Center for Tobacco Policy & Organizing was founded by the American Lung Association in California in 2002 to ensure local advocates across California have the skills, resources and information to be successful in protecting their neighbors and communities from the harmful effects of tobacco use. For more than 15 years, the Center has brought together tobacco control policy expertise, campaign consulting proficiency and community organizing skills to help provide California’s tobacco control movement with resources, tools and effective strategies to build political capital and achieve policy success.
